NSW: Addict was trying to turn her life around mother
The mother of street prostitute and drug addict PAULA MARGARET BONACINA says she was
desperately trying to turn her life around when she was murdered.
The 27-year-old was discovered on Sunday, strangled on an industrial site less than three
kilometres from her home in Unanderra, near Wollongong.
MARGARET BONACINA says she always feared violence, prostitution and heroin addiction would
destroy her daughter's dream of a fresh start with her two young children.
She says she can't understand why anybody would murder her daughter, who she describes as
compassionate, generous and impressionable.
MRS BONACINA says PAULA only turned to prostitution when her craving for drugs became
unbearable, and all she ever talked about was getting cleaned up.
Detectives say PAULA was strangled before being driven to Nolan Street - a cul-de-sac
leading to a BBC Hardware Store - and dumped from a car.
