WA: Threat eases on campers trapped by bushfire
Eight people are still cut off by a bushfire on a beach in southern Western Australia
.. but authorities say the threat to the area has eased.
Head of ranger services at Esperance Shire ROD HILTON says the people are completely
safe .. and firefighting efforts are now concentrating on saving trees at a commercial
tree farm further inland.
The fire .. 80 kilometres east of Esperance .. was reported at dawn and is believed
to have been caused by lightning.
More than 60 campers were evacuated from a campsite at the end of Alexander Bay Road
earlier today ..while the other eight stayed on the beach with fire rangers.
